Self’s Confidence

by Marrita Richardson Rowe

The painting’s process embraces the fun deliberate nature of pop art silhouettes, layering colors, and mixing textures. Inspired by a chance interaction online, the work transforms a fleeting observation of a contemplative person into an eternal celebration of self-belief and elegance. The busy background serves as a metaphor for the distractions of the world, while the gold invites viewers to pause and recognize the beauty and strength within. This piece serves as an attempt to capture confidence in a motionless medium.
